Chelsea Bravo is a Brooklyn-born, London-raised multidisciplinary fashion designer, textile practitioner, and educator working across fashion, textiles, and creative education. She holds a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design from the University for the Creative Arts in the UK and has more than 10 years of experience in fashion design and textile practice. For 10 years, she founded and operated an independent fashion brand centered on natural, reclaimed, and environmentally conscious materials, traditional handwork, and alternative approaches to fashion design, style, and aesthetics. Her practice has encompassed research, concept development, garment design, pattern development, material sourcing, production, and fashion presentation.

Teaching has been an extension of Bravo’s creative practice since 2019. She has developed and taught curricula, lessons, and workshops exploring world textiles and traditional textile practices, including natural dyeing, weaving, embroidery, handwork, sewing, and garment making. Her teaching practice is informed by an interest in the ways clothing and textiles communicate cultural identity, preserve histories, and reflect the social and environmental contexts in which they are produced.

Her areas of interest include non-Western and Indigenous textile practices, sustainability and circular design, material exploration, traditional craft, and the relationship between fashion, culture, and contemporary design. Through both her professional and teaching practices, Bravo is interested in creating opportunities for students to engage critically and creatively with materials, making, cultural histories, and the social and environmental dimensions of fashion and textiles.
