Textiles From Around The World
A 6-week textiles curriculum with third graders, where we explored textile techniques and methods from different cultures, including shibori, batik, and sashiko-inspired embroidery. The children were immersed in the rich histories and cultural significance of each of these textiles and learned about natural dyes derived from plants and minerals. Our project concluded in creating a quilt/wall hanging.
